About us
A family piano-moving team, in Leeds since 1977
We're a third-generation Yorkshire family of piano movers, and we've been moving pianos since 1977.
Piano Removal Leeds is part of the long-established Bellwoods group, a family piano-moving business serving Yorkshire since 1977. Over three generations we've moved just about every type of piano there is: modern digitals, classic uprights, baby grands, full concert grands and the odd antique pianola. And we're in Leeds constantly.
Because it's specialist work, we've invested in the equipment and the training to do it properly: grand slippers and skids, aluminium ramps, stair-climbing technique and proper protection for both the instrument and your home. We're fully insured, and we treat a much-loved family piano with exactly the care it deserves.
From Leeds Conservatoire and university halls to homes out in Roundhay and Wetherby, we'd be glad to help with yours, whether that's a piano removal, a move within the house or disposal and recycling.
Three generations of it
The business was started by the current owner's father in the 1970s. His son works in it now, which makes three generations on the vans, and there's a grandson coming up behind who would make four. It means the person who quotes your move is the same person whose name is on the business, and the crew who turn up have usually been doing this since they were old enough to lift one end.
Why pianos are their own trade
A piano is not just heavy, it's heavy in the wrong places. An upright carries most of its weight high and towards the back, and a grand puts several hundred kilograms on three legs that were never meant to be pushed. General removals firms move them occasionally; we move them daily, which is why we own grand skids and slippers, aluminium ramps and stair-climbing gear rather than hiring them in when a job comes up.
What that means on the day
- The route is walked and measured before anything is lifted
- Floors, carpets, banisters and doorframes are protected as we go
- Grands are dismantled, skidded, then rebuilt and levelled at the far end
- Fully insured, with you setting the instrument's value for liability
- A fixed price agreed up front, with no hourly meter running
Part of a bigger family
Piano Removal Leeds is the Leeds face of the Bellwoods group. Moves based elsewhere in Yorkshire are handled by our sister company Yorkshire Piano Logistics, with the same crew and the same kit. It's one team wearing different names, which is also why our Google reviews sit on a shared profile.
Waste carrier registered
For pianos that have reached the end, we're registered with the Environment Agency as a waste carrier under CBDU133377. Instruments are dismantled by hand and separated by material, so under 1% of what we collect goes to landfill. See piano disposal and recycling for how that works.
What our customers say
Our reviews come through the Google profile we share with Yorkshire Piano Logistics, because it is the same family team and the same vans. Read a few on the home page, or see the full list on Google.
