Piano removals in north Leeds

North Leeds means big Victorian and Edwardian houses around Roundhay and Chapel Allerton, larger family homes out towards Alwoodley, and stone-built houses in the villages beyond. Grand or upright, these moves reward planning, because the route from the room to the van is usually longer than it looks.

Steps, drives and staircases

This is a typical approach on the edge of Leeds: a stone-flagged path and a run of steps between the house and the van. Our aluminium ramps bridge steps like these, so the piano rolls rather than being carried, and nobody is balancing a few hundred kilograms on a wet stone edge.

Inside, it's often polished floors, wide halls and a proper staircase. Grands have their legs and lyre removed, go on their side on a padded skid with grand slippers, and are rebuilt and levelled in their new room.

  • Ramps for steps, terraces and garden levels
  • Floors, stair carpets and banisters protected
  • Grands dismantled, skidded and rebuilt on site
  • Fully insured, with you setting the value for liability

Uprights, grands and everything in between

Typical north Leeds jobs include a piano going from one family home to another, a grand coming into a bigger house after a move, and an old upright finally leaving. We do all three. For the last one, see piano disposal; we dismantle by hand and recycle, with under 1% going to landfill.

Good to know

North Leeds piano moves, answered

Can you take a grand piano up a staircase?

Usually, yes. A grand goes up on its side, strapped to a padded skid, so the width of the stairs and any turns decide it more than the weight. Tell us about the staircase when you ask for a quote and we'll say whether it's straightforward.

What if there are steps up to the house?

Steps are routine. We bring aluminium ramps to bridge them, like the ones in the photo on this page, and plan the route from the van to the room before we start.

Do you cover the villages as well as the suburbs?

Yes, including Shadwell, Scarcroft, Bramhope, Harewood and Bardsey. Moving a piano out of north Leeds to somewhere further afield is no problem either.

Elsewhere in Leeds

Plenty of north Leeds moves start or finish somewhere else in the city, which is no different for us. There is more on how a move runs, what goes into the price, and shifting a piano within the house.
