Responsible piano disposal in Leeds

Some pianos reach a point where they can't be repaired, retuned or rehomed. When that day comes, we'll collect it from anywhere in Leeds and see it off responsibly.

Old upright piano being removed for recycling in Yorkshire

When a piano's reached the end

Old uprights are heavy, awkward and — sadly — often worth nothing to sell or give away. Many are beyond economic repair, with cracked frames, seized actions or worm. Getting one out of the house and gone can be surprisingly difficult, which is where we come in.

We remove the piano with the same care we'd give a house move — no scraped walls or damaged floors on the way out — and take it away for responsible recycling.

Recycled, not dumped

Our disposal is a proper end-of-life process, not a trip to the tip. Each instrument is dismantled by hand and separated by material — timber, cast iron, steel wire, felt, brass and ivory-substitute keys — so the parts can be reused or recycled. Less than 1% of each piano ends up in landfill.

  • Collected from any Leeds property — including upstairs and awkward access
  • Dismantled and sorted by hand for recycling
  • Under 1% to landfill
  • A clear, fixed collection price agreed up front

Disposal questions

Good to know

Can't I just take it to the tip?

In practice, no — most household waste sites won't take a full piano, and even if they would, getting a 200kg upright out of the house and into a vehicle safely is a real job. We handle the lift, the load and the recycling in one visit.

Is disposal free?

There's a collection charge, because it's a full removal followed by hand-dismantling and recycling. It's a fixed price agreed before we come, with no surprises. Ask for a quote below and we'll confirm it.

Is it really recycled?

Yes. Each piano is broken down by material so the timber, metal and fittings can be reused or recycled — under 1% goes to landfill.

What if my piano might still be worth something?

Tell us the make and condition when you ask. If it's genuinely rehomeable we'll say so — disposal is only for instruments that are past saving.
